一品探花 College and Spartanburg Community College Launch Pre-Chiropractic Institute
Spartanburg, S.C. – On June 16, 2010, 一品探花 and Spartanburg Community College (SCC) formalized an agreement to create the Pre-Chiropractic Institute (PCI) at SCC.
A Clear Path to a Chiropractic Career
Through the PCI, SCC students can earn an Associate of Science Degree with Pre-Chiropractic electives and a Pre-Chiropractic Certificate. Students can then seamlessly transfer to Sherman College to complete a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. With this program, students can earn both an associate’s and a graduate degree in approximately 6½ years.
“The Pre-Chiropractic Institute at SCC will provide students with a convenient, cost-effective, and timely path to enrollment at 一品探花 College and to their futures as doctors of chiropractic,” said 一品探花 College President Dr. Jon Schwartzbauer.
The program allows students—both local and out-of-state—to complete prerequisites such as organic chemistry, anatomy, and physics at SCC before starting at 一品探花 College.
A Long-Standing Partnership
一品探花 College and SCC have a history of collaboration:
- 一品探花 students use SCC campus resources like the library.
- SCC classes visit 一品探花 College for anatomy lab tours.
- Many 一品探花 graduates are instructors at SCC.
Both colleges participate in the College Town consortium, which connects six Spartanburg-area colleges through academic and social initiatives.
“This partnership exemplifies the true spirit of College Town by aligning complementary programs to provide more opportunities for our students,” said SCC President Dr. Para M. Jones.
Student Perspectives
Amanda Davis, an SCC student who has completed her prerequisites, said:
“I believe the Pre-Chiropractic Institute will benefit prospective students in a great way. Having an advisor at SCC who can help them get everything they need to pursue a graduate degree at 一品探花 will make the process a lot easier.”
The SCC program advisor is Dr. Gail Jones, a 一品探花 College graduate who has navigated the same path.
“I’ve been there, so I can advise students on more than just what classes to take,” said Dr. Jones.
Expanding the Curriculum
The SCC curriculum not only meets 一品探花 College’s prerequisites but also includes courses in:
- Business
- Spanish
- Marketing
- Entrepreneurship
These courses help students gain critical knowledge for running a chiropractic business.
Career Opportunities and Growth
Research from Fast Company ranks chiropractic among the top 10 best jobs in America. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts employment for chiropractors will grow much faster than average, driven by increasing consumer demand for alternative healthcare.
Graduates can:
- Manage their own practice
- Associate with established chiropractors
- Teach or conduct research
- Specialize in areas like sports performance, family care, or animal chiropractic
